Cause of fatal house fire is under investigation
Three men have died and another is fighting for his life after a house fire in Croydon.
The blaze broke out at an end-of-terrace property in Sanderstead Road on Friday evening. Two men were pronounced dead at the scene.
On Saturday, a third man, believed to be in his 30s, died in hospital, the Metropolitan Police said.
Two other men self-presented at hospital following the fire. One remains in a life-threatening condition, while the other been discharged.
The London Fire Brigade were called to the scene at 10.39pm to tackle the blaze, with the majority of the ground floor damaged.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation by police and London Fire Brigade.
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said: “The Brigade was called at 10.39pm and the fire was brought under control by 00.16am. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Croydon, Purley, Woodside, Norbury and Wallington fire stations attended the scene.”
Police are currently trying to trace their family.
